Notes on Gender and Popular Culture

Gender and popular culture critique each other

Text nuances what we may think about the show, or about individuals or what we may think about men and women

Women is only one holding a glass, she seems aware of the gaze, some senses both of the women are unimpressed by the gaze, theyre not playing for the gaze, theyre showing us that they are refusing his look

Those type of nuances show us something and trigger some type of imbalance of what we were taught

But we know all texts do cultural work, resistance, disruption

Milestone and Meyers- marxist feminists, preoccupation representation is tied to capitalist structure how much money can we make from this, how can men excel to a position of wealth, how does it transform itself to a culture producing industry
